It's all a Lie

I want to show you the strategy the devil had always used and still trying to use today on unsuspecting Christians. This exposition is geared towards ensuring you have a worry-free life as it concerns your relationship with God.

The scripture explains that the devil was one of God’s favourites in the heavens until his rebellion that led to his eviction. God then created man and handed over the authority of the earth to man. There is a beautiful thing about the creation of man that explains for why Adam was excellent in all that he did in the Garden ranging from naming all the animals to tending the garden so well: Man was created in God’s image.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” Gen 1:26 NKJV

The scripture above explains how man was created: exactly like God. They were exact representation of God here on earth. . This meant that man had the power that was almost like being next to God, in essence, man had power over the devil on the earth. This definitely got the devil furious. He began to look for how to break man off from this powerful seat.

Having known the instruction God gave Adam on not eating a certain fruit in the garden, he was able to present his lines in a way that he convinced Eve that there was nothing wrong with eating the fruit God had instructed them not to eat. These well-articulated lines convinced the woman to believing they weren’t like God so there was a need to have a taste of the fruit.

“God knows very well that the instant you eat it YOU WILL BECOME LIKE HIM, for your eyes will be opened- you will be able to distinguish good from evil” Gen 3:4

They missed out on the fact that they were already like God.  The devil is the father of all lies, so, when he told them they were going to be like God, they could have known he meant otherwise if only they were vigilant. They sinned in the process of striving to become who they were already! The deception of the devil comes with identity issues because he lost the throne in the process of being who he was not meant to be. So, he believed what could make him fall would make anyone fall. If only they had known; it’s all a lie.

Now, the devil didn’t see Jesus as a special candidate on this matter. He still came forward to ensure the second Adam also failed on His mission to the earth. While Jesus was in the wilderness preparing Himself for what was ahead, the devil came with the same approach. It was now modified, but still centres on the deception of identity.

“Now when the tempter came to him, he said, “if you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread” Matt 4:3 NKJV

Jesus didn’t fall for the same trick the devil used on the first Adam. He didn’t need anything to proof He is the Son of God. Jesus knows exactly who He is and it was a hard knock for the devil.
Now, what this meant was that Jesus wasn’t seeking validation from performance (feelings, state of wealth, circumstance) but, from what God had called Him. In fact He was just announced by God as His Son at His baptism before heading for the wilderness. So, where the first Adam missed it (not taking God’s word at it) the second Adam, Jesus, stood firm.

This strategy still continues today and has become a major tool the devil uses to keep unsuspecting Christians under. The deception being presented to many by the devil keeps them in a perpetual state of fall. He says things like you are too dirty to be called a child of God or pray, not to talk of evangelizing. He does remind of the past and how incomplete a man can be. Each there is a fall, he reminds of things that make such wallow in guilt and then the heart is shattered and broken. Anytime there is an uninteresting occurrence, he whispers that God has left you because of what you did and now the enemy is in charge, and man begins to run from mountain to valley looking for peace with God. The deception goes on and on!

What is the devil telling you? Those feeling of inadequacy, guilt of past sin or incompleteness are not real. They are only shadows which the devil want you to see as the real image. He has been doing this for long, don’t be naïve. It’s all a lie!

You have been made righteous by the virtue of Jesus’ sacrifice; in fact, the scripture says you are not a sinner (2Cor5:21). The sacrifice of Jesus was not just for the fun of it and in it is all the victory and rest that you seek resides. God is at peace with you- this is the complete truth.

It was through what his Son did that God cleared a path for everything to come to him- all things in heaven and on earth- for Christ’s death on the cross has made peace with God for all by his blood” Col 1:20 (TLB)

Since it is through what Jesus did that God is at peace with you, your own part is then to believe in this. When you begin to believe the word consistently, you will begin to be living by the word.

God is at peace with you!

I love you.
