CONDUCTOR SIDELINED

I had an experience that I felt so excited about and it formed a message I had to share with a community of believers. This message is at the centre of the new life we have in Christ.

I boarded a public bus on my way back from work. As soon as we started the journey the conductor began calling on several stop for people to signify so he could communicate that to the driver. Each person stops at their different destination after the conductor must have alerted the driver.

My seat was just next to the driver, so, as the conductor mentioned bus-stops that were even far ahead where I was to stop I didn’t bother because I was seated next to the driver. I whispered gently into the ears of the driver without any other person hearing our conversation. And, immediately he approached where I was to alight, he gently stopped. Everyone began to wonder who was to come down, even the conductor; however, they could sense it that it must be one of those close to the driver.

The driver in the bus depends on the conductor to get information about the passengers; same goes for the passengers to the driver. The conductor was the channel everyone relied upon. If any of the passengers messes up with the conductor then he’d be paying dearly for it. So, because the conductor was human, he had limitations comprehending every of the passenger’s needs to the driver. It could not be perfect. Sometimes, some people are taken beyond their destination due to the human error of communication.

This is an exact description of the Old Covenant. There was always a conductor who relates every of what man had to say or do to the Driver (God). The Driver also depended on the judgment of the conductor (Priest) to reach out back to the passengers (People). However, the conductor had limitations; he had his own personal need that distracts him sometimes from what the passenger needs.

The Priest had this assignment in the old. Men had to visit the priest to hear from God and offer sacrifices to God. The Priest himself had need of offering sacrifices for himself. So, this system didn’t guarantee the peace that man desired.  We saw how Eli and his Sons led the whole nation into chaos. The priest also had his own problems to attend to. Just like every other passenger in that bus I boarded, everyone under this system needed to keep shouting and struggling to get the attention of the Driver through the Conductor.

This all changed with the coming of Jesus Christ. But, many still relate with Him like there is still need for a Conductor.

The same way I was seated in front and never had a need for a conductor to speak with the driver is the same way you are now seated with God in heavenly places by the virtue of what Christ has done. He is closer to you than ever. Everyone is now in the front seat. There is no passenger- conductor interface any longer. Jesus opens the door of God’s presence to everyone. There is no longer a need to shout so as to be sure the conductor hears you well to convey your message to the driver. The Driver Himself is now seated just next to you.

Like I did, just whisper into His ears, He hears you better. Can you imagine I was still shouting at the conductor on where I was going to stop when the Driver was just next to me? That would have meant ignorance.

There is a joy that comes from knowing you can now directly converse with the driver. It saves you from shouting, arguing or being noticed. It is stately. You don’t wait for anything to stare you; the Diver is just next to you. Mary never waited for the conductor, she knew the Driver was next to her so she instructed that the stewards at the wedding do exactly what Jesus tells them to do even at Jesus’ word that it was not yet His time.

You don’t have to wait for a conductor; the Driver is just next to you. He hears!

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ” Eph2:13

Talk to Him, you don’t need any Conductor (Prophet, heavy feeling or intermediary).
Conductor has been sidelined; He wants you to talk with Him directly!
