Quit Praying!

One of the most challenging moments of life is when we embark on a journey, be it relationship, business, project etc. and suddenly, along the line, all the excitement begin to wane. It starts to look like you heard another voice when you decided to start. You then begin to doubt God’s ability or your own ability of hearing.

Do you understand this kind of scenario?

I was praying with a burning heart as I was trying to explain to God that I didn’t deserve some things that were going on. The more I began to feel hurt because I was so cleared in my spirit before getting into this particular venture which hurt me so much, I sensed God saying to me “Where is your Rod? “

Let’s take a stroll into the Journey of the Israelites to Canaan from Egypt.

God gave Moses an assignment to go deliver the children of Israel. This was a special assignment he had been designed for right from birth. He came to the people with this message of deliverance from God with proofs. Pharaoh wouldn’t let the people go just easily. Israel was the economic base of the nation; they were the once at the centre of their industry.

After several demonstration of God’s power, which the climax was the first born children of the Egyptians dying, Pharaoh had to give in. He allowed the Israelites leave. This was a wonderful exodus. A journey occasioned by God with different infallible proofs that were too obvious for the blind to see.

They matched out of Egypt gloriously.

Not too long after they left Egypt, it was like God had set them up for a fall. Moses became a man whose celebration was only short-lived. Before them was the Red Sea. How on earth would they cross over without a boat? This was the question that ran through their mind until they turned back to discover there was an Egyptian onslaught coming behind. At that point, all hope was lost. The only thing they could think of was death. They mocked Moses and screamed at him.

“But Moses told the people, Don’t be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch, and you will see the wonderful way the Lord will rescue you today. The Egyptians you are looking at- you will never see them again. The Lord will fight for you and you won’t need to lift a finger” Exo 14:13-14

From what the scriptures pointed out next, Moses also was in a state of anxiety even though God had earlier told him this was going to happen, but the knowledge of Moses was limited. He knew God talked about Pharaoh that was going to be defeated but here was also a Red Sea ahead which he didn’t know exactly how to go about.

“For Pharaoh will think, ‘Those Israelites are trapped now, between the desert and the sea! And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and he will chase after you. I have planned this to gain great honour and glory over Pharaoh and all his armies, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord” Exo 14:4

As expected, Moses started praying, he needed a miracle to save the day.  The people were not helping; all they did was place blame on Moses. And the Lord spoke to Moses which is exactly what He needs you to do right now in the midst of that distress…

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Quit praying and get the people moving! Forward, march! Use your rod- hold it out over the water, and the sea will open up a path before you, and all the people of Israel shall walk through on dry grounds” v15-16

Prior to this journey ever starting, God had given a rod to Moses. That was like a “tool” he needed that would take him through the journey. This was exactly the only tool he needed in course of the journey. When Jesus was at the point of distress and it seemed as if the pain was too much to bear, he remembered the “rod” (word) he had received which was a representation of the glory ahead of Him; He jacked up into trusting God again.

It is not out of place to be tired. But, before you started, what word was given to you? That is your rod!

Quit praying and use the rod. With the word you had received that initiated the journey, you will sail through. So, where is your rod? Hold your rod over the sea that you are facing, the sea will path into two.

Is your relationship or marriage failing? Is it your business, perhaps unemployment or you are looking for the fruit of the womb? What word has He given you before you commenced any of these journeys? That is what you need at this time to bring back your faith alive and faith never fails.

Get back on your feet. Stand on the rod (word)!

I wish you victory.
