SIGHT

I was in the midst of a very tough period when I got an invitation to minister at a program. I needed help from God to be able to deliver without my emotional state inhibiting what God intends to do. So I was feeding on a God’s word from His trusted servants and as I listened my heart was drawn to a particular truth and this was the very first thing I was going to share at this meeting but more importantly what I needed myself to scale through the challenge before me.

This is a secret that will help you navigate a time of decision that you seem to lack direction for. This kind of time is when you are at your lowest and every attempt to get to hear from God seems to be unproductive. The truth is that there is always availability of God’s direction in your spirit. It is the natural inclination of a man that is saved by the reason of the Holy Spirit resident in you. Now, in such a situation as this, it is natural to be looking for “light”. Light is usually use symbolically to mean direction in the scriptures.

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light” Matt 6:22

So, light is usually what we need when we are in situations that threaten our peace and understanding. It’s another way to say “seeking for God’s leading or direction concerning an issue”.  The light of the body is actually a product of the eye as we see in the scripture above. You can’t see any light without the eyes functioning. When you are in a very tense and troubled period, it is natural to begin look for more light (direction). These are the times you just feel every Pastor or a spiritual friend would just tell you exactly what to do having received such word from God on your behalf. However, such a time, sometimes, isn’t about light (direction, instruction), it is about the eye (sight). One candle is enough to illuminate an entire room.

Imagine putting blind men in a dark room. No matter how much the room is illuminated, they still won’t see. If the entire house is replaced with light bulbs, the blind still would not see because the eye is not functional. So, in a time when it seem as though you are too overwhelmed with an issue on the direction to take, you may need to shift your focus from seeking what God wants you to do to what God has made available. Light is always available.

Let me explain how this works to you from the scriptures: The king had just sent his men to go get Elisha and Gehazi. As the troops approach their residence, Gehazi became so jittery. He was afraid that the end had come for his boss and definitely himself. However, there were host of angels all around where they were but Gehazi could not see beyond his physical sight. He was blind to that reality. As much as he may be praying for what to do if he were to be alone in such situation, nothing would have happened until he prays on what God has made available which is a product of sight.

As soon as Elisha saw that Gehazi was losing his cool, he prayed that the man may see (2King6). This wasn’t a prayer for direction (light) but that sight (eye) may return to Gehazi. He needed to come out of his blindness before light can make any sense. It means most of the time we are in the midst of light but can’t even have access to it for one reason or the other. In fact as long as you are a believer, the Spirit of God dwells in you and that is light for you. So there is no way light is not available to you but confusion persist because of your own sight that needs to be fixed.

So, God could be pointing you to what He needs you to do but you are not able to grasp it. As soon as the eyes of Gehazi received life, light came to his spirit. So, you may be in church, receive words from fellow believers and instructions from men of God, none of this will be clear until you have the capacity to see.

If you are in that state of confusion now, where all your strength seem to be gone and all you just ask for at this time is God’s help and waiting on God for direction, beyond that, ask God for sight. You will be amazed how great the light that encompasses you is. Instantly, you may not know where to head to but you will know where the end will be. It is a confidence dose.

Do you understand this?

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” Eph 1:18
