WHAT WILL BE WILL NOT BE

I recently responded to a question asked by my friend on if our actions really determine what becomes of us in life since God already pre-planned everything. One of the scriptures he quoted was the latter verse of Romans chapter 9 which describes how God hated Esau but loved Jacob. I have been able to clarify what this means as it does not have to do with the men but God’s prerogative on who to advance His purpose here on earth. If you missed that, please read here https://innovationresort.blogspot.com/2019/07/god-hated-esau.html?m=1

Now, to the second part which was also supported with scriptures was this insinuation: if God already planned everyone’s life, does what we do really matter as God already planned it all?

There is something called “obedience”, it is at the centre of entering into God’s plan. When this is missing, the actualization of God’s plan for a man’s life begins to look frustrating. Even though God had purposed it, there is obedience by man to be carried out to ensure the actualization of the plan. It is never automatic.

There is always an encounter with a decision to translate into what God has promised. Obedience is the duty of man. The predestination is God’s decision; however, obedience is the call of man. What God does is to give man that ticket that opens you up to obedience and the man is left with the choice to make.

LET’S TAKE SOME SHORT CASE STUDIES

ADAM AND EVE
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will”

From the way the writer of the book of Ephesians described God’s plan as it concerns Christ, it looks as though Adam was designed to fail. Ephesians 1:4 was simply describing the love of God and the everlasting grace of Christ. The plan was never to see Adam and Eve fall. The fall of man at that point grieved God. Adam and Eve lived in the plan of God before the fall. They represented a type of God on earth and this was exactly what Christ is about- An extension of God’s kingdom. So, the reality of their existence was the existence of Christ who as the Word brought about their being.

The choice of obedience is what was missed which brought about the coming of Christ in the form of man. The account of Christ as being from the beginning of the world depicts the ever saving grace and love of God; it was not to show God already planned Adam was going to fail. Adam himself was a type of God. The only issue was that he missed his moment of encounter with obedience.

KING SAUL
Saul was a choice king for Israel who God delighted in. Even though the people asked for a king as against what God had wanted, Saul was given all that he needed and it was God’s plan to see the clan of Saul become the one to produce the Saviour. This was what God had in mind. However, something also happened and Saul could no longer enter into this plan-Obedience was also missing. He was confronted with that choice of obedience but failed at it.  This also shows despite the prerogative of God on a life, there is still a work of obedience to be done by the person. He missed his moment of encounter with obedience.
“You fool! Samuel exclaimed. You have disobeyed the commandment of the Lord your God. He was planning to make you and your descendants kings of Israel forever” 1Sam13:13

JESUS CHRIST
There had been prophecy about the coming of the Son of God and the salvation He was to bring. A lot of the prophets spoke so well about Him. When Jesus eventually came, He also spoke so much of who the Father is and all the Father was going to do through Him. He got to that defining moment of the choice of aligning His decision to the will of God. He needed to obey what the Father had written. Jesus didn’t fail at that moment which marks the establishment of God’s will. He could as well refuse to do all that was written of Him saying He is the son of God and it has sure been written of Him to save the world, but He showed us the pattern that God has the prerogative of what will become of a life, but individual holds the duty of obedience towards performance.

“And he went a little further, and fell on his
face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, bus as thou wilt” Matt26:39

Every destiny transformation is tied to an experience of obedience and God has given to man what it takes to be able to identify this moment in the passing of time.

Every man has a work to do so as to enter into God’s promises; it is the work of obedience.  No matter what God has called you, there is a call of obedience that comes with the package of being a part of the master plan. So the saying “What will be, will be” is very incomplete, it should be “what will be, will be after due diligence in obedience”.

This is a glimpse into why Jesus teaches that we be on guard always, for we don’t know when the master will come. Stay obedient that your moment may turn out profitable.
