Anointing Misconceived 2

Last week I started to unfold the mystery behind the concept “anointing”. I made you to see how the error of Adam and Eve brought the need for sanctification and the need for a man to represent every other persons before God. This is due to the weakness of the blood of the animals being used for the atonement of sin. If you missed that, it is very important you do read before going ahead with this. Please do read here now http://innovationresort.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/anointing-misconcived.html?m=1 .

Let’s take a look at the anointing as it is been used in the Old Testament and peradventure from here we would get closer to what exactly the anointing is. It is very important to point out that the anointing oil was used constantly in the Old Testament. This is somehow inseparable from the anointing but it isn’t the anointing, it is a contact point for the conferment of the anointing. But, nevertheless the anointing oil is central to understanding anointing from the old covenant. Anointing oil was what confers the anointing, whoever the anointing oil is applied on becomes legally empowered to see God, and be a channel through which the people communicate with God- he becomes acceptable.

On this note, I will explore what is contained in the anointing oil and its significance on the anointed. I know many people have mistaken even the anointing oil for the anointing and the anointing oil for olive oil. What is used in the formation of the anointing oil will get us closer to understanding the anointing.

“Moreover, the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, and of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of Olive an hin; And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary; it shall be an holy anointing oil” Exo 30vs22-25

Five vital components come together to make up the anointing;

MYRRH
The myrrh oil comes from a dried resin extracted from the commiphora myrrh tree which belongs to the Commiphora plant. The word “myrrh” derives from the Aramaic (murr) meaning “bitter”. It is referring to the resins bitter taste. It then becomes a tool to heal wounds and adds fragrance. This is showing how from the unpleasant odour that the people breeds, He still has a way of bringing out one with fragrance who can connect with Him and heal the wounds that had been caused by sin. This implies that the anointed becomes acceptable and instead of the bitter taste that comes from the people’s sin, sweet fragrance comes from him.

CINNAMON
Cinnamon is the inner bark of a tree growing about twenty feet high, and being peeled off in thin strips curls. It is of a dark red color, of a poignant taste, aromatic, and very agreeable. This is traceable to its Hebrew meaning “to erect or upright rolls”. Now, the anointed one can agree with God, he smells nice before Him.

CALAMUS
The calamus is a sort of reed, or sweet-scented cane, used by the Jews as a perfume. It is a knotty root, reddish without and white within and filled with a spungy substance. The anointed one is not clean but when the anointing comes upon him even though he is unclean becomes clean within and that is where God sees. The anointed one then becomes a channel through which the people see God and God speaks to the people.

CASSIA
The cassia was also the bark of a shrub; and in Hebrew is “Qiddah”, which is similar to the word meaning “to bow down” or”to pay homage”. Homage in the scripture means to honour another by bending low in deep respect. It is a product of worship. The anointed one could now worship God. Worship is a continuous link between a higher authority and the lower.

OLIVE OIL
The olive oil comes from the olive fruit. But, when the fruit is pressed real hard, oil can’t be found, only a white sap. To get the oil, the fruit and its seed have to be crushed by a great weight in an olive press. The crushing removes the bitterness. The anointed then becomes controlled by a greater weight (God) and by this he shines. This is why it is honorable to be anointed.

Sure you see the olive oil isn’t even the holy anointing oil. All of these is what the anointing oil seeks to achieve on the anointed. The anointing oil isn’t the anointing, it is the holy anointing oil. Moses’ rod isn’t the power, it was an ordinary stick in the hand of another, but through it Moses performed miracles. The rod isn’t the real thing but something behind the rod.

The essence of the anointing oil is to cause the anointed persons or objects to become “qodesh” or most holy (Exo 30:29) and you mustn’t forget something died in Eden after the sin, that which died took this (all that the anointing oil seeks to do) away and at return of that which died can this be attained. That which died is the real thing which is what contains all of the components of the anointing oil.
The anointing oil is a contact point to activation of the anointing.

We are getting closer to knowing the anointing!
You mustn’t miss this as we keep digging next week.
