THE ASSIGNMENT

Hey friend, my message to you this week will require you to take time to pray afterward to sink it in.

There are experiences we have that seem not so palatable that all we can wish for is just that everything ends at the moment. At such periods the survival instinct of man is just to let go or cut off from the source of discomfort. At times people who truly care about you can make recommendations and pitch ideas just to help relieve your pain. However, some pains are not meant to be cured but to break into a phase that is to birth your assignment.

Jesus was about to go through the greatest pain of his human existence. He had prayed with the disciples three times but they couldn’t keep up as they slept through the period Jesus prayed. He had to talk to God a few times if the cup could pass over Him. Finally, Judas came with the men who were to arrest Jesus. It was His cross, His moment, however, Peter thought it was okay to rescue Jesus from this pain. He attacked to fight the “pain” for Jesus. He brought down the ear of one of the guards who came for Jesus.

As one who understood his assignment, Jesus quickly stopped Peter. He also went ahead to restore the ear of his supposed enemy so his enemy can be successful in his agenda to take him away. The pain was his course to glory. It was not to be cured.

While he was on the cross, they gave him vinegar which was meant to make the pain ineffective, Jesus refused the vinegar because he understood the assignment. When you understand the assignment, your definition of pain and help changes.

Understanding your assignment makes you know the “help” not to receive and the “pain” not to discard.

Your assignment is a reflection of what you are going through right now. However, your response to both is a pointer to where you are ending.

Be strong, Jesus got you!

  2. This is amazing. God, help me discern the moment. To know the help to accept or discard.
