Your Wild Animals

This week’s dose will innovate your mind on why the waiting period seem to be long and how to make the most of it. It can be sickening praying over an issue and still it seems God is not doing anything about it. In fact, in some cases you may receive sure words of confidence that is so real in your spirit but nothing seems to be operational in the physical. Can’t God just do what He will do now?

The Lord told Abraham to leave his father’s house with the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. The promise was not just for Abraham but to his seeds who were to become tools in God's hands. Now, there is a promised land that the offspring of father Abraham were to take possession of. He had given the promise to Abraham and He is certain to fulfill it. However, it looked like the promise was taking forever.

The land of Canaan is an inheritance to Abraham; this is more than a booty from a conquest. Inheritance lives older than the possessor. It is not the spoils of war that can be consumed in a short period. When it comes to inheritance, the process of taking requires more than just when it is a conquest to acquire booty. For the promise (inheritance) to come to fulfillment, patience is of great necessity.

As at the time the promise came, all that needed to work alongside the promise was being prepared. From Abraham down to Moses, preparation for the promise was ongoing, to bring the people out from Egypt to Canaan. As soon as Moses was ready and the Lord saw it was time, He visited him and the journey to brining the inheritance home started.

The Lord began to give instructions to Moses and ways by which He will operate with the people towards bringing them to the Promised Land. God then spoke to Moses this way:

“I will not do it all in one year, for the land would have become a wilderness, and the wild animals would become too many to control. But, I will drive them out a little at a time until your population has increased enough to fill the land” Exo 23:24-30

Why won’t God bring them to the land in one year? He is the Lord, He created the earth and all that is in it in a space of seven days. Could He not just wipe off the wild animals by His command? He has the power to give the land to the Israelite in the space of a second, but, He made them understand it was going to be a process because of the nature of what is to be received- inheritance. It lives beyond them, they needed capacity to manage it for the next generation. So, God had to deal with their personal lives (all that could obstruct the sustenance of the promise).

There are wild animals of faithlessness, murmuring and idolatry that needed to be dealt with in their lives in order to ensure their survival and sustenance in the Promised Land. With the presence of the wild animals beyond the control of man, there is a serious danger. So they needed to grow until their capacity was strong enough to totally keep the wild animals at bay.

Remember the parable of the prodigal son? (Luke 15:11-32) He was so quick to taking occupation of the land without adequate provision for the wild animals that became too many for him to control thereafter. He had the land which was surely his, but he was yet to work out the wild animals in his life which are lack of self-control, immodesty and imprudence. These would have been dealt with if he had stayed until his father knows it is the right time for him to leave. It didn’t take long before the wild animals consumed him. Inheritance is not to be handled with carelessness.

Friend, it is not true that the devil has delayed your glory as I have heard in some quarters. What even is the glory? Glory is your unification with Christ; that is beyond the devil’s comprehension. You are your Father’s business. I think you may need to rephrase your prayer along this line. The Lord is just ensuring all your wild animals are well dealt with before they become too many for you to control. If this is not done, you are coming down which is worse than the process of waiting. Moreover, He is not giving you what is about you alone, He is giving you an inheritance that would live beyond you.

Perhaps, He is teaching you how to be prudent before handling that home to you for successful management. He knows you need to learn so much of tolerance and humility before giving you the marriage you are praying for; so you don’t end up in a broken marriage. I feel He wants you to learn more of discipline and faithfulness before you secure that job and not go there to mess yourself up. Yes! He may not hand over that ministry to you now until He is sure the wild animal of pride has been well taken care of. It took the meek Moses forty years to be ready and it still wasn’t an easy journey.

Sit down and watch Him take you gradually. I know it could be tiring but it is worth it. He is faithful to bringing you to the land He has promised you. Sit and rest on His word.

He desires to give you more than a booty; inheritance is what He is giving you, hence, the seeming long process.

Impatience is a call to the reign of your wild animals. Don’t let your wild animals consume you.

“And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fittings into his plans” Rom 8:28
