Am I In God's Will? 2

Hi friend. I started sharing last week on the temptation to determine what God’s will is from the experiences you go through.  And, I was able to take you through seeing how experiences should never be the yardstick to decide on what God wants for your life. If you missed that, please do read here before you continue.

I ended that with the question of how to know you are in God’s will since situations and circumstances should not be the standard to measure such.
The quest for God’s will that brings about uncertainty actually emerged from what was obtainable in the Old Covenant.  It was a system where God is seen as far away and always ready to speak fire on the people if they missed their steps. It was a product of fear and that is not the case for you in the new covenant. You are now in a kingdom where you are a part of the family, not a distant member seeking for approval (Eph 2:19).

Just as Adam before the fall was never scared of if he was in God’s will or not, whatever name he gave to a creature was what God approved of. They were simply in God’s will, so, all that came forth from them pleased God until the fall. I need to establish this because without having this knowledge, it will look like a thing we are to struggle for. The salvation through Jesus is expected to take us back to the way it was before the fall.

Now, for you to be interested in if you are in God’s will suggests to me that the problem is not in obeying, but, knowing what exactly His will is. What is God’s will?

“If any of you really determines to do God’s will, then you will certainly know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own” John7:17

“For it is my Father’s will that everyone who sees his Son and believes on him should have eternal life that I should raise him at the last Day” John6:40

God’s will is wrapped up in Christ. This is what gives birth to a continued living in the place God wants for you. Any man who is inside of Christ is in God’s will! It is as simple as that. The constant to measure God’s will isn’t in events, circumstances or situations; it is in the person of Jesus being at the centre of your life, genuinely.

Why are you so bothered about if you are in God’s will when you are in Christ?

The disciples were having a conversation with Jesus and He told them He was going to the Father. The response from Philip was that Jesus should show them the Father and they will be satisfied. Jesus was disappointed; they have not got the gist yet. He then explained to them once again that if they have seen Him, they have seen the Father. They were looking for the Father when they had the express image of Him before them. It is same with many of us now. We are looking for satisfaction in visions, dreams, special occurrences that looks exceedingly supernatural when we have it all before us in His word and in our spirit.

God’s will is fulfilled in Christ, delivered to us in His word and constantly provisioned into our minds by His Spirit indwelling in our spirit.

Error comes when we believe we are natural men trying to be spiritual. No! We are now spiritual men who are to be consistently living in the spirit with occasional natural experiences (Gal 5:25). We have been given a Spirit that leads us into all truth and the Spirit is indwelling. It is not a spirit that comes and goes. He abides forever. (John 14:16). This simply means inside of you is the road map to where you are going. So, you must know with all confidence that you are not to be confused; you are in Christ; you are in God’s will.

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” Col 3:3

The scripture above explains how the life of a saved man is hid with Christ in God. This portion of the scripture explains how we are in God’s will by the virtue of accepting Christ. Whoever you keep a valuable with takes responsibility for the valuable. God is responsible for your life now! So, imagine anything not in His plans happening to you right under His watch? You must come to terms with the fact that nothing can happen to you outside of God’s knowledge and say: “I am not confused by the pressures of this time, all is working to bring out His purpose”

So, whatever the circumstance you are going through, see it through the lens of God’s word and declare what God’s word says and not what it is looking like presently. Stop being in distress looking for God’s will all over the place, you are inside of it as long as you are in Christ. The implication of this is that when anything not in line with God’s word begins to show up, you operate from the standpoint of being in God’s will to speak it into non-existence.

Are you in confusion at this time concerning any issue? Take a deep breath and search for what God’s word is saying concerning it; His Spirit is at home in you, look deeply inward and you will see the direction to go.

Say this affirmation: “I AM IN CHRIST, WHATEVER IS NOT OF GOD IS NOT IN CHRIST; SO, WHATEVER IS NOT IN CHRIST IS NOT IN ME. I AM NOT CONFUSED. I AM IN GOD’S WILL”

Enjoy your week.
