LET IT DIE!

There are things we hold so dare and wish never goes off. But life happens, it always happen. At the time you never imagine, something so precious and vital could slip off your hands and it will all look like there is nothing you can do about it. This is what all religions of the world seek to have control over- circumstances.

The most hurtful one is when God Himself reveals a thing to you and suddenly the same thing looks to be slipping off your hands. That can really bring doubts and series of questions on God’s integrity. Could God be wrong?

This week I am here to speak to you if you have things that are going otherwise from all you have ever perceived from the Lord. If the situation is going out of control and you feel like everything is being lost, I want to encourage you to let it die. Yes! I mean you don’t need to struggle with what God has said if it seems to be slipping off your hand. In the contradiction of event in relation to God’s word lies its supernatural ability.

The scriptures gave us the account of Lazarus who was a good friend of Jesus. We saw how Jesus visited Lazarus’ sisters, having a time of word and fellowship with them. This showed how much Jesus must have loved Lazarus. As time went by, Jesus’ friend fell ill and it was getting out of hand beyond what his sisters could handle; it was looking like the end had come for Lazarus. They then ran to who they knew had power to life; they sent a message to Jesus, “Your good friend is sick”. When Jesus received their message, all He said was:

“The purpose of his illness is not death, but for the glory of God. I, the Son of God, will receive glory from this situation” John 11:4b

If you pay attention to those words of Jesus very well, He said very clearly that this sickness is not unto death. So, anyone carrying this word to Mary and Martha would have told them Lazarus will not die and that was what Jesus was saying anyway. It is just same as when you receive a word of prophecy from the Lord concerning a situation. Perhaps He had told you what you will become and you are declaring it boldly.  Just like when an announcement is made that there will be famine in the land and the Lord told you, as far as you are concerned you will never know lack.

After four days, Jesus found His way to Bethany and the sisters of Lazarus accused Jesus of not coming on time. If only He had been there, their brother would not have died. But Jesus said this sickness was not unto death, how come Lazarus was dead and not just dead but buried? Anyone who received the words of Jesus before Lazarus’ death would conclude this man, Jesus, is a lie. Imagine God had said you shall not know lack and then you had nothing left in the house to feed your family. How does the word match?

Eventually, Jesus went to where Lazarus was buried. He thanked the Lord and called him forth. The man who was dead for four days came back to life. The testimony became grand and not just what a household could appreciate God for. If it was just healing of the sickness as in the case of Peter’s mother-in-law, the news would only be a household one. The testimony of Jesus raising Lazarus to life became a major testimony to bring many to the knowledge of His saving grace. Lazarus himself became a point of contact to Jesus.

The sickness was not unto death, but, he died. However, in death glory came.

There are things you are sure God told you but it’s not looking like it any longer. Just as the case of Lazarus, it is beginning to look as though what He said would not die is facing death and even buried. At such a time, hope and faith is usually lost; Mary and Martha also lost the hope. But at the height of loss of hope is the beginning of the demonstration of glory.

Has he told you things that He would do through you this year or you received it through one of God’s servant in your life, but it’s beginning to look dead? Let it die! What your own head can imagine is only a household miracle, He is planning something global and it is in the unusual that the glory becomes more expressive.
Just go and rest, let it die. Your father is the Lord over life and death. So, if it dies, He will bring it back to life.

Have a rest-filled week beloved.
