THE POWER

An interdenominational ministry invited my team to prepare the bible study outline of their yearly congress. The theme of the meeting was “Gospel Dunamis”. As I saw the theme, I began to check within me what this could mean. So, one of my team members got on the work. From what he did, it became clear what we wanted to look at was the power of the Gospel.

When people talk about power in this kingdom, it is usually common to begin thinking about demonstrations: healing, miracles and all of it. However, we were able to spot that these are the results we see from the use of the power. The power of the gospel is what brings about these results; they are not power in reality. Knowing that the power had to be something uniform even though the effect may differ, I became so curious about discovering what exactly the power of this Gospel is that I may take advantage of it.

Before the fall of man, there was a complete confidence man had in God and God also replicated same by trusting man to take care of the Garden of Eden, even to naming all the animals that were on the earth. So, it was clear man had power at this period over everything on earth. After the fall, this was lost; the need to bring back this substance of power became an issue.

Man lost all the privileges; he was now afraid of God, so also, God could no longer trust man with the power he had enjoyed. It was on the basis of trust that God left the fruit in the Garden, but gave man the instruction on not eating it. The obedience of man at this point was a demonstration of faith in God. And at the point of disobedience, it meant man had lost faith in Him. That was what was missing- the real power man had in God that distinguished him from the animals.

It then became difficult for man to be able to trust God without swerving because fear had replaced faith in him. The system that supported the ability of man to exercise faith in God had died. He could no longer naturally trust God. Have you ever thought about how God delivered Israel from Egypt and also the miracle of the Red Sea and despite this they still erected a god to worship claiming the god brought them out of Egypt? After the fall in Eden, the power that man had which was the ability to completely believe in God had been lost.

As simple as it sounds, faith in God was all that man had in the Garden of Eden that made him all he was before the fall. But the capacity to have faith in God left with the life of God that died in man after the fall.

When the Good News came, He restored this ability in man which activated the power to do all things through Christ. You will discover that the means to salvation is by believing and this is the greatest miracle that could happen to any man. There was no longer the feeling of fear going to God. Heb 4:16. All that man needed was just to believe in the son of God.

So, the first thing God gives back to man at the coming of Jesus is the ability to trust in Him. It is then from this man can begin to display the dimensions of God. However, many people want the display without satisfying the condition of believing.
Faith is the power that makes the visible proofs of the gospel.

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is God’s powerful method of bringing all who believe it to heaven… This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven- makes us right in God’s sight when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by FAITH. As the scripture says it, the man who finds life will find it through trusting God.” Rom 1:16a-17 (TLB)

Many are seeking power everywhere to be able to do the miraculous, whereas the miracle Himself now resides inside of man. The faith you have in Him will determine the results you see. (Luke 18:42)

This is the real power!

“Afterwards the disciples asked Jesus privately, why couldn’t we cast that demon out?  “Because of your little faith Jesus told them…” Matt17:19-20

The only way to tap into the power of the Gospel is by growing your FAITH.

You can heal the sick, you can raise the dead, you can give prophecy, you can divide the word of truth, and you can cast out demons- all you need to achieve any of this is fueling of your faith.

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with FAITH in them that heard it. Heb 4:2

Faith makes the difference. When you hear power now, you don’t look too far; faith is the power that generates the results. Isn’t it amazing that Jesus couldn’t do much among His own people because of their lack of faith?

Feed your faith, that's the real power determinant!
