I often hear people pray for
glory many times, in fact some go ahead to seek for a glory retrieval. If this
happens in the gathering of unbelievers, I wouldn't have felt any discomfort.
It pierces my heart each time I hear believers pray this with intense passion.
I then discovered there is a glory indicator used that initiates this request.
When there is a storm raging in the life of an individual which peradventure
last for a long time, then the belief is that his glory has been tampered with.
Glory has been equated to having smooth ride in life. Academic success, marital
bliss, continuous promotion, wealth, and all of it are their indicators. When a
man's life seems not to go as desired, then it must be his glory had been
tampered with. If this is what glory is all about, then the devil has the moral
right to equate himself to God because he has a way of getting all of those to
man.
The Greek translation of the
word "glory" is dox-ah corresponds to the Old Testament word Kabo (To
be heavy). Both terms convey God's infinite, intrinsic worth (substance,
essence). Glory does not stand without God in it. Let's look at it in the Old
Covenant and its model in the new.
In the Old Testament, the
word glory is used most times in relation to the ark of God or the appearance
of God's presence through a flash of light.
The children of Prophet Eli
led a team to fight the philistines and eventually Israel was defeated. The two
sons of Eli died in the battle front. When Eli's daughter-in-law, Phinehas'
wife who was pregnant got the news of happenings from the battle field, her
labour pain began and she delivered a baby boy. She named him Ichabod meaning "the
glory had departed". What is the glory?
"And she said, the glory
is departed from Israel, for the ark of God is taken" 1Sam4v22 (KJV)
The ark of God represented
the presence of God equated to glory. There had been wars fought by Israel as a
nation which they lost but never meant the glory was lost as long as they had
the ark which signifies God's presence with them. It isn't a matter of what
befalls you, it is a matter of who is with you.
The ark was the indicator in
the Old Testament, which is a symbol of God's presence. This translates that
God's presence is the glory.
What then is it now? There
was a problem with man carrying the glory. This brought Jesus into the picture.
God gave His glory (Himself) to Jesus and those who now come to accept Jesus
come to take the glory.
I have given them the glory
you gave me- the glorious unity of being one, as we are. John17v22 (TLB)
That is what the glory was
and is. Being in oneness with God. That is the one and only indicator. Do you
carry His presence? It is either you have him and carry glory or you are out
and carry story.
You have been told by those
you went to for help that your glory has been snatched, so you keep praying for
retrieval of this. When you keep praying in this manner, the devil just keeps
laughing at your naivety. Identity precedes authority; you can't take authority
without first knowing your place.
The elder brother of the
prodigal son was almost making this same error, trying to embark on a night
vigil to seek a redress for being robbed of his glory. He didn't go too far
before the father told him "don't be naïve; you have me, you have all"
(Luk15v31).
How can you say you are in
Christ, walking in Him and you are looking for glory? As long as you carry
God's presence, you have the glory. That's the indicator.
I have heard in some quarters
that destinies can be manipulated and the devil could stop your destiny, you
could be cursed, or inherit curses. Please may I have you know that if you have
glory (now you know what that means) your destiny cannot be touched. We will
look at that exclusively next week as I treat "The Tomb".
[I recommend that you read
"Don't celebrate the devil" before we move on to that here http://innovationresort.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/dont-celebrate-devil.html?m=1
]
Would you please let the
devil know you got your glory? Go this week in the glory you carry, confess it,
command it, let it work for you and see a turnaround.
Be Innovated.
