I was at a worship
centre on a Sunday morning and it happened to be the first Sunday in the month.
The first Sunday of the month is always dedicated to thanking God for all He
did in the last month. As many people came out; some with their babies, some
just got wedded as I could see their wedding ring shining as crystal and others
either for wedding anniversary, birthday or celebrating something new. As the
man of God took to the pulpit, he mentioned these things which the Lord has
done and said, “Isn’t God faithful?” There and there I motioned within me and
asked “what if all of these didn’t happen, is God still faithful?” I mean what is God’s faithfulness?
Let me make some
imaginary inferences which will sure minister to you:
There is a young lady,
let’s call her Leah, so beautiful that no one could dispute this fact. She
finished her studies quite early in life and got a job almost immediately. At
that point she shouted for joy and declared: “oh how faithful is our God”.
However, five years down the line, there was no man coming forth to ask for her
hand in marriage. All the ones she tried ended up in serial heartbreaks. She
gets wedding invitations from her subordinates in the office and some of them
happen to be her juniors in high school days. The invitations kept rolling in
almost every week. This made her shed secret tears and kept asking God to show
His faithfulness in her life.
At this period there
was this particular girl, Eve, who brought her wedding invitation. Eve just graduated
and was employed by the organisaton because she finished with a first class
degree. The husband of Eve was Adam who happens to also be a lecturer in one of
the leading universities in the country. Leah immediately turned to God using
Eve as a prayer contact. She exclaimed “God, you are faithful in the life of
Eve, why not show yourself in my life too!”
What exactly is God’s
faithfulness?
Adam was doing very
well as a lecturer and also as a husband at home. Eve was so happy and comes to
share her testimony in the singles church. She described how God is faithful to
her; having got a good job and a good husband without any delay. Adam is also
grateful to God to have met a perfect lady who wasn’t after his money but
someone who loves God and ready to love him. He looked down and was getting
emotional, he shouted, brethren, God is faithful. However, seven years counting,
there was no sign of a swollen stomach in the house, the only sight of such in
the house was a pot belly and the husband was the carrier. They longed for the
cry of a baby in the house. She never conceived all through the years as much
as they tried and prayed. And in tears they prayed and asked “God, But you are
a faithful God, why not show us your faithfulness”
What exactly is God’s
faithfulness?
And here comes this
couple who were Mr. Adam’s students in the university. They had just given
their life to Christ seven months ago when Mr. Adam ministered to them on their
convocation day. Before their conversion, the lady was already pregnant so they
decided not to abort it again this time, having accepted the Lord. They decided
to have the baby and get married. Just in nine months, they brought the
babies-they had twins- for dedication and also to celebrate the husbands
business that is growing well. In the thanksgiving statement, this young man was
delighted and said “despite our unfaithfulness, God is still faithful”
What exactly is God’s
faithfulness?
I don’t know what
you may be going through that threatens your declaration of God’s faithfulness
or what just happened to you that is so fulfilling and made you remember how
faithful God is. I want to let you know faithfulness is constant. It means to
be consistently loyal and not wavering in belief. And I think all of those
events that makes man feel so good and yell about God’s faithfulness are not
constant. They happen with time and season and becomes obsolete as the time
passes.
After man fell short of
God’s glory in Eden, Jesus had to come into the scene to save the face of God’s
creation. He died on the cross to take the liberty from the devil and then
declares that whosoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have everlasting
life. It doesn’t matter how dirty you are or you were, it doesn’t change God’s
decision. At times, you get too passionate for God and feel someone is just too
dirty and deserves hell, but He says if such comes to Him, He will make pure.
It takes faith that is full to entrust into earthly vessels heavenly treasure
without taking a second thought or having any cause to change the criterion
(Accepting Jesus).
This is God’s
faithfulness! All other things are addendum that comes with His faithfulness.
What else gives more joy than knowing you will reign with Him in heaven?
Friend, this is God’s
faithfulness. There is no time He stops being faithful. Rejoice, I say rejoice.
Enjoy your week.

God is ever faithful, ever sure, Glory to Him
ReplyDeleteGod's faithfulness has little or nothing to do our physical and material possession. Its a characteristic of God nature. For me. Its the assurance that He will grant us a home in eternity when we believe in him. He won't leave us. Good plus when you pray and receive, better plus when you dont pray and recieve but when its centered on that alone, its paints a picture of God's unfaithfulness
