Mr. Fred

Mr. Fred, a very wealthy man lives in the city centre of Lagos, Nigeria with his wife and a daughter. His daughter, Love was a brilliant young girl with a very promising future, that everyone around jokingly say they would love their son grows to get married to her.  

On a fateful day, Mr. Fred was preparing a specification a friend of his gave him for his dog. It involved adding some content to the food the dog would consume which would make the dog grow faster and become more aggressive to strangers. This is a family where the dog is seen as part of the family, so everyone consume the same food.

They had a particular plate that was that of the dog, but because Mr. Fred was alone at home, he felt he should quickly prepare the specification in a plate in the house, pour it inside the plate of the dog and return back, instead of going out of the main building to get the dog’s plate and still have to return. As he finished preparing this, his phone rang. So, he left immediately for the room: It was from work, there was a situation; this threw him into some deep thought that he slept off.

Love had just got back home from school not meeting anyone in the sitting room, she checked the room, only to find daddy asleep. She moved to the kitchen, curious about what was on the cabinet, she said to herself, “daddy must have prepared this for me”. She ate the food. Love tried to sleep after she began to feel uncomfortable, but, this was not possible. After she could not bear the pain, she shouted with the little strength left in her.

Mr. Fred woke up hearing the noise from the living room, he immediately recognized Love’s voice and ran there. He inquired what the problem was and all she could say what that she ate the food on the cabinet as her hands dropped down her father’s shoulder. Mr. Fred rushed to his phone, called his friend to ask if the drug had no serious implication on human when consumed. His friend responded “it will take only three days to eat up the liver of man”. He rushed out with great pain in his heart, helpless. His wife came in at that point, seeing her daughter struggling for life on the floor, she almost lost her mind.

They took her to the hospital immediately. When she was diagnosed, it was discovered that truly she had taken in a content that is causing a fast damage to her liver. The doctors tried to see if they could work it out, but after the second day, they confirmed it was already late. They advised Mr. Fred and his family to go home for the girl was going to die in a couple of hours.

Mr. Fred couldn’t bottle the pain, he ran outside the hospital, weeping profusely. Suddenly, a man by the road saw him in that terrible state. He motioned towards him as Mr. Fred kept shouting “she is a star, meant to shine, all my hope is on her for a bright future; she is going to die before my very eyes”. The stranger calmed him and asked for the details. Immediately with all sense of assurance the stranger said he knows a doctor who could heal her. The Doctor had just come from a foreign land using a local team to administer treatment to everyone who come to his clinic.

Without hesitation Mr. Fred went with the stranger to get the Doctor. Immediately the stranger pointed to the Doctor, Mr. Fred ran to him, shouting “She is at the point of death, please come and heal my daughter”. The doctor agreed to follow him. As they were all about to move out, a patient was rushed in, an emergency, so he had to stay back till he sorted that. Just some hours after the successful operation, Mr. Fred’s phone rang, it was his wife crying on the other side, saying, “IT IS TOO LATE, SHE IS DEAD, and NO NEED BRINGING THE DOCTOR”.

Mr. Fred passed out, they had to pour three buckets of water on him to come back to life. He then heard what he had never heard before from man. The doctor said to him confidently “IGNORE THEIR COMMENTS, DON’T BE AFRAID, and JUST TRUST ME”.

How would someone speak with so much confidence after hearing the news of death? They finally got to the house, and to the amazement of all, the girl was brought back to life.

This was a hopeless situation, in fact, a dead one. However, the Doctor said “ignore the comment of the people”. The only person who can say it is too late for you is the Doctor Himself and the good news is that He never gives up on you.
