The Believer and Generational Curses

The spiritual reality of what happens to a man who is now in Christ must be shared consistently; this is what keeps a man in the right direction in the face of many wrong belief systems all around today. There must be deliberate effort towards believing rightly as this is the way to living right in Christ. Inside of the word in the person of Jesus is the manual for believing right.

There are believers who still hold the belief that there is a family/generational curse that has a hold on them. As such, visitation to prophets and pastors for deliverance becomes imminent. Those who belong to this category actually have proofs of what they say because they have submitted to those thoughts which are products of unregenerate mind. It is a beclouding that shapes human life in ways not in conformity with present realities in Christ. The only solution to such is seeing from somewhere different.

Having said that let’s take a look at this, can a believer be cursed or plagued by a generational curse?

Blood is significant to life; it is referred to as life. The scripture describe it as where the life of the flesh dwells. A man who has no blood flowing in his vein is obviously dead already. In essence, it is not out of place to use blood and life interchangeably.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood...” Lev 17:11a

Jesus came to save mankind, laying down His life (blood) for our sins. His blood became the propitiation for the sins of the world. Hence, He gave up His life (blood). Before Jesus, the blood of animals was used as the substitute for man’s sins but this could not sustain man or keep him from committing another sin. So, by the blood of Jesus, liberty came to man. One of the things Jesus did was to ensure His blood now runs in the vein of man so that man can begin to think, feel and act like He did. It is a spiritual reality. This was what Paul caught and declared that it is no longer he that lives but Christ living in Him. There was a substitute of blood. Remember blood is life. So, Christ gave His blood in substitute of man’s blood. Hence, you  ended at that
point you gave your life to Christ.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me” Gal 2:20

This blood advantage ends a life we have always known which could be subject to curses to a new one. This new life gives man the honour of being a son of God; we are the brothers of Jesus because of the life now shared by the reason of the blood. You are now of the same Father with Jesus. Isn’t that interesting?

“We have been made holy by Jesus; now have the same Father he has. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brothers” Heb 2:11

God is your new family head and Jesus the firstborn of the family. Your Father and the First child of the family have the duty of watching over you. They guard you jealously. So, you now have two persons watching over you by the reason of this new birth.

“For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God” Col3:3

In every family, there is a culture and value system that the family is usually known for. The blood of Jesus (which automatically now flows in your veins) brought salvation to the world. Invariably, as a member of the family, your first assignment is to help others get saved; bringing them into the fold. This is the reason evangelism is the heart-beat of God. It is just what the blood we carry represents; just the same way anyone born into the family of a king represents royalty. You are in the business of getting people saved by the reason of your birth.

“And he said unto them, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”        Mark 16:15

In this salvation is healing, deliverance, demonstration of the spirit and abilities in Christ. It is a full package.

Having understood that you have the duty of bringing people to salvation by the reason of this new birth, it would be an error to think a force still holds you bound by any means; it will only take those who are free to get others to be free. So, if Christ has given you the duty of getting to others salvation; it means you have experienced total liberation and above all other powers. Salvation brought by Christ is complete; full!

There are kinds of prayer Jesus prayed. Nowhere was there any to cleanse Him from a generational curse. It is not existent in our family. We belong to this family and our brother, who happens to be the first born (Jesus) shows us the way of life here; curses are not traceable to us as we see in Him.

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” Acts 17:28

You have a blood that saves; you are immune to curses.
