Knowing His Will II

I started to share on identifying the will of God for your life last week. The myth that it requires so much pressure and “hard work” to know His will was demystified. Knowing the will of God is as simple as what you already know. If you missed out on that, do read here before proceeding. That is the first thing to know, His will is easy and simple to know because He now reside in your heart.

Having settled that, the next myth to burst is that the will of God is always against what we desire. Many people now dread God because He won’t just allow them do that which they find exciting to do. This is a doctrine that has made people believe anything that does not appeal to them is most likely the will of God and those things that look appealing is not God’s choice. I have a friend who would not want to ask for God’s position as it concerns his intending marital partner for the fear of hearing a NO from God. He just doesn’t want to lose her. Quite hilarious, isn’t it?

Having this understanding is important to getting you to that level where you can know God’s will over a matter in a second.

So, is God’s will always out to hunt our desire?

Let’s also take this from the beginning. Adam and Eve had a very cordial relationship with God in Eden. Adam never had any reason to be scared of God or have a feel God would be against his decisions. He went ahead naming the animals and all that he called them was fine with God. There was nothing like “what if God wouldn’t approve of this?”

The secret of Adam’s ability to so be in this state was because he had the mind of God.  Do you remember man was created in the image of God? The breath of God in man which was God’s spirit was the nation where man received his image (thoughts) from.

So, he imagines things from his Spirit which is of God. That is what constitutes his mind. Adam was carrying the mind of God; hence, whatever he does was not questionable. It is just as God doing that exact same thing. Unfortunately, this life was lost and that led to man losing the image of God that he carried. At the moment the life left, his mind could no longer access God.

That was how man’s desires became far from that of God. And we saw that recorded in Isaiah 55:8

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord”

Man became evil and this was by nature because he had lost the life of God in him. So, we saw Cain kill his brother and had no feeling of guilt. Wickedness became almost natural to man. The things of God became opposite of what man thinks. The will of God became what was not pleasing to man. Man’s desires were strongly along what God never wanted because of what was lost- the life of God. It is what is in the spirit of a man that determines what enters into his thoughts. Man lost God in his spirit and his thoughts was no longer in sync with God.

But there was a rescue mission eventually which is why we cannot import this doctrine to now...

Jesus came and restored the life that was missing to man. When life came, man can now see and think again from the light of this life. He then made man sit in Him in heavenly places. So, we are no longer limited by the things down. Our thoughts are now totally a product of what we see in Christ.

“and God raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”Eph2:6

This means you are now in another community where what and all you see is God. By default, you are bound to think heavenly. It is natural for a child to display the culture of where he belongs; he doesn’t struggle to understand the language of his community as he grows.

The heavenly culture becomes natural to you because that is what Christ has done to you. You are now in heavenly places in Christ.

Your mind is now of Christ and just as Adam and Eve before they fell, your thoughts are now principally products of Christ. You have His mind. This means, you think in His ways. That’s the reality of the new life.

“For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ” 1Cor2:16

As someone who now has the mind of Christ, it will be an error to think ideas that come forth from you are against Christ. It is totally wrong to have that mindset. You have the mind of Christ. You think Christ. You know the mind of the Lord and His will is what pleases you.

You must come to that place of knowing God is happy to have you and you have been programmed to love what He loves and hate what He hates. It would be an error to love what your Father hates when you are now raised in heavenly places where all you see are what are of the Father.

Come up...no infractions between you and God. You have His mind.
