Last week I shared how God will always show up for His own regardless of how messy the situation may look. If you missed that you can read it here.
So, one of my very good
readers asked me a question from that message wanting to know what we should do
while waiting for God to show up. And also if there is a way we can know when
He will show up.
In the matter of waiting
for God to show up, it may not be a size fit answer as situations differ and
responses to these circumstances can be different from person to person.
Ordinarily, it is natural to say things such as prayer and staying hopeful. I
have dealt with cases I find it hard to even believe or pray any longer for the
person because of how grave the situation was. So it can be a tough one to say.
Does this mean we are
helpless? No. As the saying goes that “You don’t prepare for a battle in the
battle, you prepare before the battle”, so it is with all circumstances that
life will throw at you. In reality, the circumstances come to check what it is
you have got. Hence, that scripture if you fail in the day of adversity your
strength is small.
Daniel was in a strange
land but he was known to always practice the routine of a man devoted to God.
He prayed at the regular prayer hour he had grown with and also did this by
opening his windows so that it was obvious to all men. His success began to
cause a lot of envy for the other guys who were also in the same rank as him.
This led to the conspiracy against Daniel. The plan was to make the king sign a
decree that will make sure he was thrown into the lion’s den if he continued to
pray to his God. It was a major issue. It was a situation that was going to lead
to compromise for Daniel. He had the option of either to keep praying to his
God or decide to improvise on his prayer method because what if God does not
show up before He is thrown into the lion’s den (And God didn’t)
He was thrown into the
lion’s den but Daniel still believed just like the three Hebrew boys. In the
lion’s den, Daniel still didn’t compromise we didn’t have any record of Daniel
weeping before and during this trying time.
So what did he do and did
he know God was going to show up?
“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his
house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled
upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God,
as he did aforetime.” Dan
6:10
He simply did what he had
always done- praying at every prayer hour. He already had a consistent routine.
A way he knew to get to God and reach to Him. Even though he was going through
a tough time and facing what could mean losing his life, he kept on with the
same routine he had always kept.
When you are at the
waiting time, thinking of when God will show up and you don’t know what to do,
what to do is what you have always done. A routine you have always kept before
you entered into the waiting. Keep at it and He is too faithful to fail.
This was what Paul and
Silas did. It wasn’t a special song for deliverance. It was two believers doing
what they’d have done if they were not in chains. They always pray and sing.
I hope this helps.
