EGYPT

Egypt has been described many times as land of slavery. I have heard many pray for God to bring them out of their Egypt, because Egypt has been typified slavery. Seeing a scripture pointing to Egypt caught my attention to see deeper than the surface.

Egypt in the scriptures has been described over the years looking at it from the rear. There wouldn’t have been a rich description of Egypt in the scripture without a bro Joseph. Joseph was sold to Egypt by His brothers because of God’s grand plan not just because his brothers envied him (Gen45v7). The family of God and the world needed to be preserved and God gave the assignment to Joseph. For Joseph to execute this, His place of primary assignment was Egypt.

Egypt, the name during the ancient times especially the old kingdom, was “Kemet”, meaning “Black Land”. This referred to the fertile soil of the Nile Valley. Egypt had the resources but it wasn’t the destination of God for His children. The Lord knew how rich He had designed Egypt and this was not by mistake. It was in a bid to preserve the children of Israel in fulfilment of His promise to Abraham. The famine that hit the earth that period had its resources of sustenance in Egypt. God needed His own there, He sent Joseph. Egypt isn’t a land of slavery but of preservation. Egypt needed to play a role on the journey of the Israelites to the Promised Land. Egypt had its pain and its gain.

Egypt is a land to pass through, not a land to pasture. When you make it a land of pasture, it becomes a land of slavery. They were so comfortable in Egypt that they prospered so well until, the salt of preservation became the salt on an open wound. They had stayed beyond their purpose. The problem wasn’t the land, it was about the expiry date of their purpose on the land. When their purpose on the land had expired, it became hard on them. It was a sign for them to know it was time to move ahead. Nothing, I say nothing is wrong with Egypt.

Are you frustrated and unhappy with your current situation, work or location that it just seems as if it isn’t the plan of God for you to be where you are? You imagine how unhappy this situation is and at the beginning it felt like heaven on earth. Now, you call it slavery. You feel sad on making the decision to this exact point, guilt accumulates in your heart because you feel it must have been the devil who led you here. Some declare so emphatically “I have missed it” and you know what? It kills your drive to move ahead. It now gets to a point where you have come to terms with the situation to just live with it and life goes on. The problem isn’t about where you are, t is about you, your purpose!

The Israelites also complained to stay back and suffer in Egypt because they didn’t understand purpose. You haven’t missed it, and, you are not in any slavery. It’s a land to preserve you for the real place you are going. If you don’t go through Egypt you might not make it to Canaan. The pains you feel now is a sign you are close to Canaan. Your Egypt is not slavery but preservation because of the blood of Jesus. No Canaan without Egypt.

Would you please just hold your peace this week and you know what? You don’t need a Moses, Jesus has done it. God already sent Him and He sent the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is inside of you there. I beseech you to tell Him your heart now and you will see the glory of God. But you must know you are not in slavery. How can you carry Jesus and be in slavery? Totally impossible.

Be Innovated.
