Integrity
is a word with high potency. It is relevant in all facet of life. It
distinguishes a man from every other. Anyone who is worthy of recommendation is
mostly tagged a man of integrity. According to the dictionary, it is the
quality of being honest and having strong moral principles or a state of being
whole and undivided. This is a principal quality of God. Let’s use David as a
centre of study briefly.
“For when you
die, I will put one of your sons upon your throne and I will make his kingdom
strong… but my love and kindness shall not leave him as I took it from Saul,
your predecessor. Your family shall rule my kingdom forever”2Sam7vs12
The
Lord made a covenant with King David before his death that his son will rule in
his place and his kingdom shall continue till eternity. Solomon is the son of
David graced by God to occupy the position of his father. Unfortunately, along
the line he went astray and became the opposite of how he started with God. His
sin was just exactly as of Saul- disobedience. Despite this, the kingdom is not
torn away from him as it was from Saul because God had to live up to His word. After
Solomon died, his son, Rehoboam also took over whose reign is terrible than
that of his father, this made the people reject him and his kingship was only
accepted by Judah.
The
Lord could have changed His plan after Solomon and his son misbehaved. At a
point after Solomon’s’ departure, it seemed as if ensuring the dynasty of David
ruled forever will not be achieved but His word is ever sure.
Now,
this was a period when there was no one with God pleading on behalf of men. The
sin of man had no solution and man was not yet a living sacrifice before God,
yet, the Lord didn’t forget one bit of the promise He made to David and all was
fulfiled in his death. God fulfiled the promise as a matter of integrity.
This
week’s message is straight to you. You have a better sure proof than David. Now,
there is someone in the presence of the Father pleading on your behalf. He is
there reminding and pointing out to Him those words concerning you. The Lord
wouldn’t just answer you for anything. He will because of His integrity.
Have
you received a promise from Him but now you feel it can no longer be possible?
After David’s death, at the tail end of Solomon’s reign, things began to turn
opposite, the kingdom was even taken from Rehoboam his son only one nation left
to him. Naturally this could have made one conclude the dynasty of David has
lost it. But along the line came our Lord Jesus from David’s dynasty unto
eternal reign. Has He said it? He will do it, not because of your effort, but
because of His integrity. He wouldn’t say what He wouldn’t do.
Let’s
take this for the week now: His word says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask the
Father in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son”
John14vs13. You see that? It’s a challenge! This isn’t for recitation, it’s His
word and you can hold Him by it. He has integrity, He will do it. It’s the
beginning of a new month. Friend Ask for something Now and do remind Him of His
word!
