The Demon Challenge

There is a challenge I want to put to you this week. I call it “The demon challenge”. It is so easy to come to the conclusion that you have probably gone against God’s will or made a mistake in the past is the reason you are going through some unpleasant situation. In this dispensation, it’s more of understanding the principle of the kingdom, but the devil is up to the act of false teaching.

It is quite untrue to be made to believe it’s because of a certain thing you did last year or some years back God has refused to answer your request. In fact, someone asked me why she keeps having that feeling of guilt of a sin she had asked forgiveness for. The real motivation for this idea is to make you weary to ask for blessings that belongs to you from God. The devil himself is the sponsor of this idea. It cripples your ability to ascend to the throne of grace whereas Jesus says you should come boldly to the throne of grace. The only thing that deprives you of the grace is the guilt because the guilt steals the boldness (Rom8vs1).

If you can’t imagine to have it, if you don’t feel worthy of it, it becomes difficult to ask.  Ok, let’s get to the challenge. Demons are spiritual beings without physical form. They are assumed to be evil spirits that are opposed to God and His work. They are also referred to as unclean spirits in some part of the scripture (Luke 8vs29). I painted that picture of what demons are so to understand the challenge.

Jesus was out with His disciples. As they arrived at the other side of the lake, a demon-possessed man ran out from a graveyard just as Jesus was coming out of the boat. Immediately the demon-possessed man saw Jesus, the demons in him identified Jesus. There and there a conversation started.

The demons knew Jesus won’t leave the oppressed man in that awkward state. Then they had a meeting to strike a deal. They begged Jesus again and again not to send them to some distant land. Immediately the demons quickly took a decision on their better choice of residence. They soon found one; “huge herd of hogs rooting around in the hill above the lake”. They requested Jesus send them there. The most interesting part of that scripture –Mark 5:15- “And Jesus gave them permission”. Jesus granted the request of demons. Remember, demons are oppose to God and His work. However, He granted their request.

The challenge: if Jesus would oblige the request of demons, how much more you who He suffered for, died for, redeemed and sanctify. The demons don’t have the authority you have got as a regenerated son but they understood the principle.

Go on your feasibility study, say it again and again to Him what you want.

Two things the demons understood; they submitted to the authority of Jesus and they were bold to ask Him what they wanted because they knew Matthew 7vs7.

As you go this week challenge Him. If He could grant the request of demons accordingly, how much more you who is the redeemed. It’s your right! Submit and Ask.
