Unreasonable

There is this story that remains a challenge to the natural mind. I have read this portion of the scripture over and over but somehow it inspired me in a different way.

From this story I began to see how much God has deposited some unique invaluable talents in the heart of many of us but most of the time they lack logic and we just conclude this is “unreasonable”. When God answers your prayers requesting for money, He doesn’t give you cash down from heaven, it comes in form of an idea which most times you refer to as “Unreasonable”. Let’s look into the story.

The man who everyone believed to be the Savior of the world was on His usual outing teaching and talking about the Kingdom of God. As a result of many numerous miracles he had performed that were beyond questioning, He had many following Him.

On this fateful day, the crowd was overwhelming and they had been there with the savior for a whole day. These people were far above five thousand. It was in the desert, there was nothing there to feed them. In fact most of those who ought to have been in the nearby market place to keep the market running for a possibility of quickly getting what to eat were all at the meeting. So, it was a totally impossible mission finding what this crowd will eat.

The savior is of the nature of carrying His disciples along in all that He does. Even though He knows all things and how to do all things. He gave those around Him a sense of responsibility.

He asked one of his disciples, Philip, how to ensure the multitude won’t leave the meeting without eating, they needed to be fed. If He left them to go without eating, some may die by the road side. Immediately Philip retorted “it will take a fortune to feed these people”. This was totally logical. But, I have come to realize with the master, logic doesn’t really produce amazing result. Do you remember Naaman who was a senior officer of Aram with leprosy? He felt it was totally illogical for the prophet to ask him to go wash in the river of Jordan without even coming out to lay any hands on him. However, that was where the result was, so unreasonable!

Back to our story. So, the savior didn’t stop at Philips response to sorting for food. He had to go to another candidate to be sure there was someone who could be “unreasonable” enough to bring up an outstanding result. He turned to Peter who responded by saying “Sir, there is a lad here with five loaves of bread and two fishes”. Sincerely, this is the most unreasonable response I have ever heard.

A multitude of over five thousand to be fed and a thinking man mentions five loaves of bread? Do you know if it were to be a board meeting of a company that man with such a suggestion could be thrown out of the meeting for making a mess of a serious issue?

In contrast, the savior was so glad within His spirit. Why? There is someone who could think there is a possibility with the Savior around. The first man never even gave feeding them a thought. The “unreasonable” thought did the magic. It fed more than five thousand people even with leftovers.

Many of us have traded away what was meant to get us into fortune because we felt it is “unreasonable”. Those God has appointed to lift you up don’t seem to be in the status you feel a helper should be, that’s quite unreasonable. How unreasonable was it to sing round a settlement and the walls collapsed without physical contact!

Friend, what is that idea you have been throwing under all because it doesn’t appeal to the natural senses or popular support? I beseech you to check it, it may make you feed your five thousand even in the desert.
