Do we all serve same God?

One of the very cliché I have heard and disputed is that which says “we all serve the same God” especially when it has to do with a sect of religion believed to uphold moral excellence. Some of those who believe in the Lord Jesus have also made this comment. However, recently, I was teaching at a meeting and then I got some depth into this which makes me conclude that statement could be somewhat true.

In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve to be His representative on the earth. They were to act in the capacity of God. However, they went against the instruction of God and this led to the dethronement of man from that position of excellence. Man became afraid of God who they were known to have fellowship with. That was the point the voice of God which had always meant peace to them became the voice of terror. Now, God didn’t change, it was man’s receptive capacity of God (His Spirit) that had been lost; what decodes the voice of God to mean what God intended was now missing. This is the primary reason you cannot understand God perfectly from all of the writings of the Prophets, God wasn’t perfectly expressed to us through them; they only tried as much as they could.

This led to the eviction of man from the Garden of Eden. The basic challenge was that only Adam and Eve had that privilege of ever seeing God and carried the life of Him in full capacity, hence, they knew exactly how God was to be served and all He was before they lost the life. So, it’d take a man who has also seen God and with God’s life in Him to help us back to a life in God that would be in truth.

The only person who qualified for this is the Son of God, Jesus! He came and demonstrated the nature of God to man in several ways. He began to change our understanding of God. He spoke what exactly God speaks.  He did what God does and it was a little different from what we had seen from the prophets even though He came to fulfill what the prophets had written. So, the only way to God is the Son.  The scripture explains this.

“For God so loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John3:116

“I say emphatically that anyone who listens to my message and believes in God who sent me has eternal life, and will never be damned for his sins, but has already passed out of death into life” John 5:24

“And a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him” Luke 9:35

So, serving God acceptably can only be possible when you know how He wants to be served. You cannot serve a man well without hearing from the man how he wants to be served. You know how you enter a restaurant and then the waiter serves you based on your demands and not on how the waiter feels you may need to be served.

No man can serve God acceptably without meeting with Jesus! He is the instruction of the Father.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me” John 14:6

Serving God is not by good intentions but instructions. Read about Cornelius. So, anybody may have the good intentions of serving God but such service cannot be acceptable if it is not done through Jesus, the instruction on how to serve.
Even the Jews who believed they can claim ownership of God had to deal with this but Paul made it clear how this is not just wanting to serve God but doing it acceptably.

“Dear brothers, the longing of my heart and my prayer are that the Jewish people might be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for the honor of God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don’t understand that Christ has died to make them right with God. Instead they are trying to make themselves good enough to gain God’s favour by keeping the Jewish laws and customs but that is not God’s way of salvation” Rom 10: 1-37

So, it can be true that we are all serving same God as many also hold same believe that there is a big omnipotent one up there, but He can only be served acceptably the way He has instructed to be served.  Only those who come through Jesus can reach to the Father.

“Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” Matt 7:21

And what is the will of the Father?

“Jesus told them, this is the will of God, that you believe in the one he has sent” John6:29

Anyone not in Christ is NOT serving Him acceptably!

PS: Would you like to join the league of those serving Him acceptably? Believe in your heart that Jesus died and rose up to life to save you from sin and death and confess this with your mouth. It’s that simple but powerful.
