I was having a prayer time discussing an issue with the
Father and I spoke out a word that I feel you’d greatly need too my friend.
Rahab was a young Canaanite prostitute and as such not a
very likely candidate for a heroine of the faith. Jericho was one of the
principal seats of idol worship, being especially devoted to Ashtaroth, the
goddess of the moon. Here was centered all that was the vilest and most
degrading in the religion of the Canaanites. Two things you need to see here.
She was not of the family of God and also a despised harlot that the scripture
had only that as a reference for her.
To make matters worse,
she also became a liar. She had to lie to keep the Israelite spies alive. Lying
wasn’t a thing of deep thought for her, she was just living her “normal” life.
Looking at this her profile, you wouldn’t think she would have much chance of
making the list of renowned biblical characters, but there she is. She was
mentioned among the heroes of faith. This is a sample of your story. He is making a beautiful piece out of your life.
Jephthah was a Gileadite
but was born of a prostitute. He was driven away from the family as an adult
because he was considered an illegitimate child. He moved to the land of Tob
and lived among “a gang of scoundrels”. Jephthah looked like his world was
going to crumble. From being the son of a harlot to finding himself amid men
who looked as though nothing good was going to come out of them. He grew to
become the judge of Israel and those who sent him away bowed to him. This is
another sample of your story. He
is making a beautiful piece out of your life.
Paul spent a larger part
of his life persecuting the Christians. He was there when Stephen was murdered.
He went far and wide just to see that men who proclaimed the faith of Jesus never
found things easy. One of his journeys was when he met with God and at that
point, he knew he had always been “fighting” the God he thought he was working
for. It looked easy to read but imagine the feeling of having offended God and
the need to do everything to catch up with your “sins” to be acceptable again? However,
he became a major Apostle of the gospel whose revelation of Christ to us
remains eternal. This is another sample of your story. He is making a beautiful piece out of your life.
All I am trying to let
you see is that your story is of these men. Their stories are parables of yours
with one man at the center of it- Christ.
He is making a beautiful piece out of your life regardless of what it looks
like at the moment. This, is your story.
Have a great week ahead.
