A preacher said the Holy Spirit isn’t for casting out of demons and destroying of the devil, anyway the Spirit enables that but in agreement to his affirmation there is so much more the Lord intended to be achieved with the release of the Spirit. Jesus described the Spirit in one word which carries a whole lot of weight- The Comforter. All that Jesus did is only centred towards one thing- The kingdom. It isn’t about a competition between the devil and God. He assures us of victory from the power of hell. All He then requires is for you to come to Him, it’s a victorious journey. You just need to go through the process to victory.
Before Jesus was to take His official leave from the earth, He began series of teaching on the kingdom geared towards comforting His disciples not to give up but to be strengthened for the kingdom is here with them. He did so much in describing the kingdom to these brothers who were almost not understanding this. It was evident there was still much to be done for they weren’t ready yet for the move. Little wonder senior apostle Peter denied Him just same day the saviour was captured and other disciples were nowhere to be found. They couldn’t stand. Do you remember Jesus was worried if He was going to find faith in the world?
His concern was no longer the devil, it was the world. He had defeated the devil eternally. But, He knew the devil had influence over the world (the world isn’t space, its every thought contrary to the will of God). This is why Paul recommended the renewing of your mind. Through the human flesh that man still carries, there is a way for the devil to come through that. The flesh reacts to external stimulus trough the body. For the body is not saved, until the last day. No matter your level of spirituality, the devil still makes some suggestions to you.
He is the king of Kings, He always got a way out. This gave birth to the game plan of having a replica of Him still very much around. He then called Him another comforter. This in essence means somebody who will replace me in ministering to you not to lose focus of the Kingdom, because this is the whole essence of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is not a contest instrument. Jesus had fought and won on your behalf. This is who helps in the face of discouragement and in situations the devil makes suggestions to you. His primary purpose is to ensure you are still on the road to the Kingdom. Many are so interested in how much they can cast out demons, raise the dead, and perform some supernatural operations to actually confirm the presence of the Holy Spirit in them. The most potent sign of His presence is in a daily abiding in Jesus. That seals it all!
When you can stand for the truth that will cost you to lose your source of income, say no when you have the opportunity to falsify a document and be rich, refuse to do whatsoever in your secret that no one will sure know about, not because it’s not right (a moralist may not do for same reason), but because of Jesus, the Kingdom, “I can’t do it”; you have displayed the greatest spiritual expression of Him.
