Predestination is popular with the teachings of the Calvinist. Calvinism defines predestination as the eternal decree of a perfect God who has, based on his will, already fore-ordained the eternal destiny (i.e. heaven or hell) of each human being before they are born. This thought is backed up with the scriptures in the book of Romans.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first born among many brethren” Rom 8vs28
Let’s do a study on this;
From the beginning of the world, God created man in His image. Man was just exactly God on earth. It’s just as we have ambassadors representing a country in another land, but here it was a colony. He was bringing heaven on earth through assimilation, a model of to the French colonial system. The colonist gave man total control of the earth until man missed it, then the system changed. Man was sent out of his domain, though still had his dominion, but it was hell using his dominion in a pseudo-domain.
You can be sure God still loves His creature dearly, His plan hasn’t changed; to make man have dominion and take territories for Him, though at the inception without an adversary but now with one as man had given legal right to the devil to have charge over the earth. So, there were two kingdoms which man was subjected to make a choice, what qualifies man to God at the beginning had been done away with. This brought the sacrificial system which wasn’t sustainable. The term of man in this new domain became short, the land had been cursed, what man was left with is to have what it takes to return to the original home or be a victim of the new kingdom established by the cursed serpent.
Now, the whole essence of God in this new order is how to still ensure man reigns with Him and still ensures His territory is extended here on earth. How will man survive the cursed earth? The solution was Jesus to ensure the destination is still possible- Oneness with Him (John6vs39-4o). Jesus went to the place of death to take back the right man lost to the devil. So here comes a transfer of rights, as such when man believes in Him (Jesus) he is not doomed to end on the other destination but in God’s bosom. So here comes two destination, the choice is yours.
So, that scripture is explicit. “For whom he did foreknow”-
when legally married couples have sexual intercourse, the scripture records it that “and they knew each other”. That part means those who have received the salvation of Jesus, He knows them, there is an established relationship. “This people He also did predestinate”- It is not predestinated, one comes before the other. When there is a knowing (Relationship with Him), your destination has been decided before you end the journey. That’s the predestination- Eternal life.
“For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten son that WHOSOEVER believe in him shall not die but have everlasting life” John3vs16
It’s whosoever (This includes all manner of persons), not restricted to some people. It has been pre-designed with the condition of accepting the offer of grace. It’s that simple. So, that theology of this being decided before birth doesn’t hold.
Now, your destination is different from your purpose in life. Your purpose is as He has designed, all to meet the essence of your destiny. Destiny is the end of all, not about getting married, rich, building houses, having a good life. Those are just incentives that may or may not come in the journey to your destination. This is why Paul preceded that Romans 8vs29 with “All (pain, happiness, good, bad) work together for good to them that love God”.
Your destiny is not sure if you have not accepted Him as your Lord and saviour!
You can do that now by confessing Jesus with your mouth as your Lord and savior, believe in your heart He died for your sin and He is the son of God. (Amen).
As you go this week, rejoice for your destiny is sure in Him.

What an innovative dose for the week!uprooting this deeply-rooted beleif about destiny and purpose.
ReplyDeleteAlbeit, the word "Fore" in Foreknow portends that he had already known.
Other words, 'having knowledge of something beforehand'. That is, he has knowledge of those whom he would know before 'It happens', i.e before they give their lives to christ.
Does it translate into he already knowing everyone's destination before our existence?

@Akintoye The foreknowledge comes to place when a man has come under the coverage of grace...Those he did foreknow...i.e, those who have cone into the fold. I know my sheep and they know my voice. Its that simple. Those who are in Him, he foreknows (not forknew) for Predestination. Also remember that word "I knew you not, oh ye workers of iniquity"..the foreknowing becomes fore (previous knowledge) at the point of predestination. (Eternal Judgement).
