More

The treatise of Jesus and His disciples travelling on a boat on the suggestion of Jesus is going to speak to us this week as recorded in the gospel of St Luke (8vs22). The scriptures records that Jesus suggested to His disciples they go on sail together, on the way across Jesus lay down for a nap and while He was sleeping the wind began to rise. A fierce storm developed that threatened to swamp them, and they were in real danger. These brothers were scared to death and all they could think of doing is going to wake the master. But, I presume they must have exhausted all options and they cried aloud lamenting that they were sinking. Jesus attended first to the situation before bringing out what needs to be known.

He was disappointed at them so He exclaimed “where is your faith?” friend, this is the implication of that occurrence. Just like you, these brothers have come to a place of knowing Jesus, in fact He is the one that directs every area of your life. There is nothing you do without the consent of Him. They knew He is the Lord, they so much believe He has answer to all problems. However, in contrast Jesus wanted them to know all power given to Him, He is handing over to them (Mankind).

Now there is something surprising here which will encourage us this week. This brothers believed so much in Jesus, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t go to Him for rescue. But from the response of Jesus it showed Jesus wanted something more from them because this is what they will need when similar case arise again. It’s not just about knowing He has the capability. Jesus is saying “Believing in me is not enough, it’s for the babes” that only sets a man ready, there is more for storm calming. It is a great thing that Jesus mentioned what was lacking- “Faith”. Faith is knowing Jesus has the capacity to do the exceptional through you.

What is the storm raging in your life now? It is almost making you scream and you feel Jesus is sleeping at one corner. This is no longer the time for physical manifestation. He is now been made alive in your heart. Believing in Him does not automatically make you good for battles here on earth. As many as believe in Him shall not perish; that is a heavenly interaction. For here on earth is where you experience storms, it is faith you need.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Can you rest on God’s word concerning that ranging storm? Don’t just believe He can do it. Do more; rest on His power to do it.

Believing helps you through salvation, Faith strengthens you for the storms of life. Faith is not just knowing He can do it, it says “I know He can do it and I choose to rest on Him ignoring every obvious facts in contradiction to His word.”

As you go this week ignite your faith to calm the storm, it starts from within, feed on His word. Go for more!
