There
is a portion of the scriptures I have always heard and known so well but not
really gotten to know the in-depth. However, the Rhema flew out of the Logos
just over the week. It gave me another perspective of obtaining confidence in
God. The scripture describes the earth as the Lord’s footstool.
The heaven is my
throne, says the Lord through his prophets, and earth is my
footstool…Acts7vs49a
The
footstool is a low stool upon which to rest one’s foot when seated. The
footstool is at the mercy of the man seated above laying his leg on it. The man
seated has the power to determine what can be placed under the stool which he
lays his legs on. If any object runs under the stool, the man seated takes note
of it before it can find its way abiding under the stool. A footstool has no
other source of control other than the man seated above. It is the man seated
that keeps the footstool in whatever position it could be.
This
scripture took a leap and ran into my heart, drawing the picture of a footstool
to my mind. If the earth is the Lord’s footstool, then He has the authority
over every life under the earth. Every man, whether believer or non-believer is
controlled by the man seated above but there is only one difference between the
two groups.
After
the fall of man, Jesus came to take the authority from Satan which brought the
mantle back to mankind and He rules over the earth. The devil is been thrown
out of the heavens and the earth is not sold out to the devil either but he is
got some influence but now only on those who have not received the sacrifice of
Jesus on the cross- salvation. The devil has an influence over the life of such
a man who is yet to submit his life to Jesus, but ultimately the Lord has the
control of all that happens on earth.
I
have heard many times when people say the devil is the ruler of this earth and
this makes you to feel the devil controls circumstances here on earth. Each
time those unpleasant things happen, such philosophies minister to your
subconscious and you just feel the devil got you again. Only to find yourself
submitting to deliverance sessions on different occasions. Friend, the word of
truth you have is the strongest weapon of deliverance. It is a polished lie to
believe the devil is in charge of the earth; it gives a partial license for the
devil to do stuffs in your life.
The
devil has been thrown down from heaven, he is also in the earth with his fallen
crew who are now demons.
This great
dragon- the ancient serpent called the devil, or satan, the one deceiving the
whole world- was thrown down onto the earth with all his army” Rev 12vs9
As
long as the earth remains the Lord’s footstool, it automatically translates
that the devil is also under His foot. The devil is still got some power
because all he lost was his domain, still got the dominion but now used against
the will of God. So, the ultimate control of event down here is in the hands of
the Lord and not the devil. The devil only has the “legal right” to operate in
the life of those who are yet to accept the Lord’s “Footstoolship”- salvation.
The devil has no right to inflict you with any pain, suffering or troubles. The
control is not in his hands. It is just as a policeman has all the weapons but
is under the command of a chief executive who gives the order.
Now,
the most interesting part is this; as soon as you give your life to Christ, you
are raised above the stool to a spiritual state where you also have your foot
on the stool. This is the reason for the scriptures that says “now you have
been translated into the Kingdom of His dear son”. Automatically, the devil
comes under your feet (Rom 16vs20).
Can
you see it is a polished lie when you think everything about you not going well
is the devil? Your wrong belief only opens the door for the crook. I feel
someone may feel how can this be true, is it not the devil that dealt with Job?
Job was not inflicted by the devil. He who gives authority is the one behind an
act, not the person carrying out the act. God gave the devil license to inflict
Job so as to test the faithfulness of His own, the devil doesn’t have that
power, and he had to see God first for permission.
Have
you accepted His “footstoolship?” Then the
earth is your footstool. As you go this week, think of that so impossible
issue, you have the stool, create your miracle. Just faith it.
